escape()

The escape() method takes any string object or expression and returns a string object in which all non-alphanumeric characters are converted to their numeric equivelent. The returned string takes the form of "%XX", where the 'XX' is a hexadecimal number representing the non-alphanumeric character. The returned set of alphanumeric values are URL-encoded, making them safe for transimition over the internet and to CGI scripts running on a web server. An example of this type of encoding can be found on your browser's address bar - spaces in file and directory names are converted to '%20'.

syntax:

escape(string)

escape(expression)

EXAMPLE

var textString = escape("This is a URL Encoded String of Text");

The above will show, after encoding, the following line:

This%20is%20a%20URL%20Encoded%20String%20of%20Text
